Seminars with Tamir Gilad, Expert 5
On 7-8 March 2015, we participated in Pécs and Budapest in 2 seminars organised by the Hungarian branch of IKMF — Krav Maga Base, directed by Atilla Jonas, Expert 1. Both self-defense seminars were led by Tamir Gilad, Expert 5, Head of the Testing Committee of the International Krav Maga Federation. In Pécs the “Hostage Seminar” took place. The topics covered included various situations involving threats or armed attacks, tactical elements, defensive techniques, and “third party protection” scenarios: knife threats, knife attacks, pistol and automatic weapon threats, hostage-taking with edged or firearms, grenades, etc. In Budapest the “Bar Fight Seminar” took place. The topics revolved around common self-defense situations in bars and nightclubs, taking into account the specific context of such venues — low lighting, loud noise, crowding, as well as reduced reaction speed and diminished spatial awareness due to fatigue and alcohol consumption. Among the scenarios addressed were threats and attacks with edged and firearms, attacks and defenses with everyday objects — chairs, bottles, multiple attackers, aggression in uncomfortable or very narrow spaces — at a table, in the bathroom, on stairs.
